Comedian Howie Mandel is no stranger to random acts of weirdness.  He was kicked out of highs school for impersonating a school board member and hiring a construction company to build an addition to the campus.  He became famous by putting a rubber glove over his head and inflating it with his nose.  And now he has dropped the handshake completely in exchange for the fist bump.

He was off the charts, great.  His mastery of the English language was something to aspire to, and one can only imagine what his social irreverence could have accomplished in the age of viral videos and online social networking.

Answer: Kevin Pollak, Christopher Walken and The Aristocrats

Thumbnail image for Answer: Kevin Pollak, Christopher Walken and The Aristocrats

Question: What are three things that make me laugh?

For those of you that know me, you know that I quote Kevin Pollak as one of my favorite comedians of all time. I had the opportunity to watch him perform maybe five years ago at the Laughs Unlimited in Old Sacramento and even though I have seen literally a thousand comedians perform live, I still get excited watching him work. As for Christopher Walken, most of you already know that Pollak’s impersonation is not only spot-on but probably ranked number one amongst his peers, including Walken himself.

Sacramento Comedy’s Favorite Tweeters

Twitter gets criticized for being little more than a venue for celebrities to publicize even the most fleeting, inane ephemera of their lives. Admittedly, this criticism is frequently apt. Joan Rivers gets naked in her new documentary JOAN RIVERS – A PIECE OF WORK.  Ok, maybe not literally.  Though in the opening scene Rivers does allow a rare glimpse of her undressed face and it is everything she loathes it to be, making it a fitting metaphor for the raw documentary that shows the trials and tribulations of a year in the life of a struggling (yes, even the veterans still struggle) comedian.

Some things only get better with age, and Williams is one of them. While his lightning-quick wit and improvisational reflexes remain firmly intact, the only thing that appears to have slowed is his heart rate. Healthy for Williams (who recently recovered from open heart surgery) and beneficial for the audience, who will now be able to catch every word of his previously supersonic cadence.
